Brand Licensing & Partnerships
What we do
Through our global brand licensing programme Royal Armouries works with and supports partners in bringing our unparalleled collection and world-class expertise to new audiences and markets.
These design-led products perfectly blend commercial understanding with a commitment to the museum’s core values, and in turn celebrate the historic craftmanship and design in evidence throughout our collection.
As experts in historic licensing, we work closely with our partners to produce innovative product ranges, as well as providing in-house support, from product concept and development to marketing and distribution opportunities. With over 70,000 objects in the collection and over half a million archive records, the opportunities are endless.

Some of our bespoke products inspired by our collection
Unique products
Our commercial and historical knowledge has allowed us to develop strong partnerships to create products across a variety of categories. These include design-led greeting cards, stationery, gifts, homewares, as well as toys and books. We have also worked closely with specialist arms and armour brands to create replicas that encompass high-quality design, creativity and craftmanship.
Alison Hardcastle
Graphic artist Alison Hardcastle took inspiration from patterns and designs on pieces in our collection to create the illustrations for this suite of bold and colourful greetings cards.
Inspired by the display, heraldry, design and patterns found in the Tournament Gallery and around the Royal Armouries museum in Leeds. An exciting range featuring rich, primary and regal colours and strong statements of solidarity and defiance very much suited to current times.
This bold an bright collection is a stunning interpretation of the Royal Armouries collection.
Windlass Steelcrafts
Working with our curatorial team, Windlass have created high-quality replicas of historically important weapons and armour from the museum's collection. These accurate reproductions are based on meticulous study of the originals. Our curators inspected and certified each piece to ensure the specifications exactly match those of the original piece.
Final Fantasy
To celebrate the launch of the new video game Final Fantasy XVI, Royal Armouries partnered with video game developer Square Enix to display a life-sized replica sword from the game in the White Tower at the Tower of London.
The sword was created by renowned swordsmith, Tod Todeschini. He meticulously captured the sword’s intricate details, using armour-making techniques to keep the sword light and allow for detailing by hand.
This unique, exclusive partnership captured the imagination and was widely covered by media, being featured in over 100 press outlets. The announcement video, made on location at the Tower of London, features Yeoman Warders handling the replica sword and has over 1M views.
Dungeons & Dragons Honour Among Thieves Museum Trail
In official partnership with eOne, Royal Armouries created an exciting Dungeons & Dragons themed museum trail across Royal Armouries Leeds to celebrate the release of Dungeons & Dragons Honour Among Thieves in cinemas.
The trail offered visitors a fun opportunity to go on a Dungeons & Dragons quest, exploring the museum galleries, discovering objects in the Royal Armouries collection and solving a puzzle for a chance to win a Dungeons and Dragons prize.
With thousands of participants, the Dungeons & Dragons quest trail proved highly popular with visitors and was a standout entertainment experience in eOne’s publicity campaign.
